Welcome to Midwives Embracing Diversity – a heartfelt invitation to the 23rd Nordic Midwifery Congress in the beautiful city of Copenhagen from May 26nd to 28th,, 2025!
In the Nordic countries, we take immense pride in our midwife-led approach to antenatal, delivery, and postpartum care. This unique model has garnered global recognition for its emphasis on minimizing medical intervention, resulting in lower rates of instrumental childbirth. However, we also acknowledge the evolving landscape of maternity care, where increased screening and examination can sometimes challenge the notion of a healthy, normal, and spontaneous pregnancy or labor.
At the same time, midwives in the Nordic countries also work within the broader spectrum of the reproductive health frame, amplifying the capabilities and the skills within midwifery care.
At the core of our midwifery philosophy lies a commitment to holistic, person-centered care that focuses on health promotion and prevention. We believe in empowering every woman and family, celebrating their individuality, potentials, and unique needs.
The upcoming Congress in Copenhagen presents an invaluable opportunity for midwives to come together, exchange knowledge, and contribute to the future of Nordic maternity care. Through sharing the latest research and development projects, we aim to shape the trajectory of midwifery care for years to come.
